(New York, New York) June 1, 2009 – New York based singer, songwriter, composer, and producer Tania Mashay created an insipirational promotional video to support Keep a Child Alive and their effort to provide life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care, and support services to children and their families with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. As stated on Keep a Child Alive’s website, the HIV/AIDS virus has led to the deaths of millions of fathers, mothers, sons and daughters. The most affected are children. This devastating disease has created over 13 million orphans. By donating as little as a dollar a day, you can help Keep A Child Alive provide life-saving medication, support and orphan care to keep these children and families alive. 100% of donations to Keep a Child Alive go directly to this cause.

Tania was inspired to create the video after watching Alicia Keys on American Idol discuss the current AIDS epidemic in Africa and the great work Keep a Child Alive is doing to care for the children. Tania hopes that her video will inspire others to join the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Africa as well. Today is the last day of Keep a Child Alive’s Commercial Contest, where student supporters can follow Tania Mashay’s example and create a 60-second video that asks viewers to text the word “ALIVE” to the number 90999. Two grand prize winners will win a free round-trip ticket to Africa to work with the Keep a Child Alive community for one week in January 2010, and free airing of their commercial on YouTube, the Keep a Child Alive website and other related sources.
